Help select new Star Scholars as a WWIN volunteer reviewer

Mar 26, 2024

Volunteer application reviewers play an important role in selecting new Star Scholars. Each year, we invite members of the community to participate, including many Star Scholar alumnae.

Time and again, volunteer reviewers express how meaningful the experience was for them:

“You feel an enormous sense of resilience from the stories of WWIN applicants. It’s such an uplifting feeling to read the words of these women who, against all odds, are trying to set themselves up for success. Anyone who takes part in this process cannot remain neutral towards WWIN. It has been so moving for me, and I feel like I become a better evaluator each time.”

Volunteer reviewers take part in a structured process that begins with a virtual training. They then read a selection of anonymized, written responses that each woman provides as part of her application, scoring each applicant for alignment with WWIN’s vision, mission and values. WWIN applicants are scored based on the content of their responses, not their writing ability. Each applicant’s responses are read by four volunteer reviewers, ensuring a high level of personal attention to each one.

This year’s application review cycle will take place May 13 – 21, 2024.

Will you join us as a volunteer reviewer? Your thoughtful participation and engagement with WWIN will make a world of difference as we welcome this year’s Star Scholars.
