Selection process

Each year, we receive many more applications than Star Scholarships we have available. Therefore, Star Scholars are selected by a competitive review process. This means multiple reviewers read each application and consider the applicant’s alignment with WWIN’s vision, mission, and values. Our reviewers focus primarily on your responses to the narrative questions about you and your education/career goals. These questions help us get to know you as an applicant and are not scored for writing style, spelling, or grammar. We ask that you please be as thoughtful, honest, and thorough as possible when completing the narrative questions. We truly appreciate everything you are willing to share with us.

Applying online

Applicants must complete the online application form to be considered. No emailed, faxed, or mailed application forms will be considered.

Please note that as part of the application process, we require the following supporting documentation:

  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License or Washington State ID Card
  • Social Security Card or Permanent Resident Card (Green Card). It is acceptable to cover the first few digits for your protection.
  • Your 2024-2025 Submission Summary with Student Aid Index (previously called the Student Aid Report & EFC), which you receive after submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA)

Please check supporting documents carefully for accuracy – in most cases, alternate documents are not accepted without explicit approval by the programs staff.

Please keep in mind that, even if you are eligible, submitting an application does not guarantee funding.

WWIN is committed to accessibility. If you require special accommodations during the application process, please contact the programs staff.
