Aloria was over 40 years old when she decided to go back to school. “After 20 years as a seamstress I realized I had nothing; no retirement savings, and my husband has had health problems for the past couple years. Then my eyesight started to deteriorate.”
She was dismayed to find that there were so few scholarships available for women her age. Still, she scraped together enough to start school – but not enough for new glasses. New glasses were not covered by her insurance, so she had to pick between seeing the front of the classroom or being able to see her notes.
But thanks to you, Aloria received a grant from WWIN that purchased new glasses for her.
It may seem like a small thing, but the new glasses made a big difference for Aloria. She’s now able to see everything in class and says, “the glasses have made a huge difference!”
Today Aloria is working towards a dietetics program at Bastyr University.
Aloria was in need and you helped her by providing a “healthcare gap fund grant” to purchase her new glasses – thank you!
