New Census Data in Washington State

This report shows how important it is to continue our work to lift women and families out of poverty: After remaining unchanged for two years, new Census data shows that the poverty rate in our state rose from 13.5% to 14.1% between 2012 and 2013. Washington was one of only three states that saw increases in both poverty rates and the number of low-income individuals. The UW’s West Coast Poverty Center provides more on these troubling stats:
